Hail and welcome, dear readers of The Gay Witch Network! On July 6, 2002, Thomas created gaywitch.net with the intent to share with the world his view of the craft - from a gay perspective. Thomas felt that there was plenty of craft information readily available for heterosexual devotees, but very little is available on the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and/or Transgendered (L.G.B.T.) Mythologies. Much of our history is ignored, when you get right down to it. The goal for the Gay Witch Network is to reclaim the power center--- In which we collectively, as the LG.B.T. people, have within ourselves.
For we are also The Walkers Between Worlds: the shamans, seers, healers, artists, and muses. Some of you may be viewing this site for the first time and others may have been with me for a while now. I thank you for taking the time to read my shared insight, and hope that it is as inspiring for you to read, as it is for me to share with you! Embark upon this mystical journey with me, if you will - into the land of queer spirituality, same sex mythology, magic(k) and mysticism. Share your input! What do you, the reader, want to get out of this website? What are you willing to contribute?
Get active in our community discussions listed in 'The Vortex'. Ask questions, give answers. Share meditation, prayer, & ritual workings. Tell us what you believe and make friends for a lifetime. Why gay spirituality? Being Gay, you are always aware of it. No one forgets their sexual orientation. It is a big part of who we are as a whole. It allows us as L.G.B.T. people to see and experience the world through a lens of another color, if you will. Whether one is happy about who they are or not tints the lens with its own hue. We as L.G.B.T. people face different tribulations in life, different 'tests' and 'trials.' Those of us who are honest with ourselves and the loved ones around us, know all too well how being an L.G.B.T. person can dictate who is and is not really your friend.
I believe that gay people (like any other people) need related spiritual images to resonate within their spiritual unfolding.Meister Eckhart's well known aphorism, 'The eye with which I see God is the eye with which God sees me.'In other words, how we deal with ourselves as a whole is how divinity will see us. By transforming our sexuality into spiritually fulfilling positive affirmations and being active members of society, celebrating life as it is indeed meant to be celebrated, we can change the world one lens at a time.Since that is such a major aspect of our consciousness, our religious and spiritual experiences, I feel; should rise out of that context in such a way as to improve and enhance our life experiences. Our spiritual paths should arise from our sexuality.
Our spiritual wisdom, our understanding of the universe and of the purpose and meaning of our lives, should arise from our sexuality. I believe it already does, whether we know or acknowledge it, because sexuality is sacred. It's just a matter of tapping into this raw, semi-dormant incredible life force that resonates within us.Being L.G.B.T. is in a way a religious vocation, a 'calling,' that is impossible to ignore without becoming seriously unhappy. Denying who you are, what you are - keeping a 'dirty little secret' -is probably just going to hurt you more in the long run than being open with the right people.
You'll be constantly wondering if someone really loves you, if they will ever find out. Like all lies the lies get bigger and more elaborate before finally, you are isolated and alone of your own doing or before someone realizes whether they recognize the lie for what it is or not that they are indeed not being told the whole truth. The secrets and lies, as they always do, will eat away at your spirit and fill your life, your aura with fear. Some Native Americans refer to this calling as being Two-Spirit where divinity takes one aside from a tribe and sets them on the path to both worlds. Living as both 'male' & 'female'.
This calling, this voice, is the voice of the creator whoever, and how many names you give he-she-it-them, 'they' are guiding us to our true path, the path of love, of lust, of celebration, and art , music, and dance. To not revel in one's homosexuality as a religious experience is to miss the icing on the cake. Our homosexuality is the lens with which we see divinity.
