I'm a bit delayed here. That is really so sad (& scary) that things like this still happen... What do you guys think about setting aside an altar this Samhain for LGBT people condemned to die, murdered, & who have committed suicide? |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11571822 Well given that it seems to be happening a lot in Saudi Arabia I figure yes! The link to BBC covers briefly how this Saudi prince abused and killed his servant but some other reports have it that they were in a same-sex relationship which is extremely taboo and punishable by death. |

Setting an altar for LGBT people who died because they were homosexual in the whole History seems a good idea to me. They deserve our remembering them. |

Mometnto Morte' to be used, in my already planned practices... I prefer to use worn object empowered for this, rather than an alter that seems separate from me. The object in question may be on the alter at first, and then acknowledged/worn at the proper time. Just a note on my dislike for division in my work. |

Sing of Hephaestus famed for inventions.
With bright-eyed Athene he taught men glorious crafts throughout the world,
Men who before used to dwell caves in the mountains like wild beasts.
But now that they have learned crafts through Hephaestus the famed worker,
Easily they live a peaceful life in their own houses the whole year round.
Be gracious Hephaestus, and grant me success and prosperity!
Homeric Hymn 20 to Hephaestus (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th to 4th B.C.) |
